Podrophenia - Show 14... April Fools!

Can it really be that time again? Yes... with something alarmingly close to regularity, Mondo and I are taking the Podrophenia jalopy out for another spin. This time the theme is April Fools, so expect to find it jam packed with songs of comedy, novelty and, erm, potential abduction. Hmm, one of those doesn't sound quite right...

In these days of austerity we know that we're expected to give more for less, so we've crammed in 12 tracks this time around, and it's an extra 15 minutes or so longer than usual. All at no extra cost to you, dear listener. Chatwise, there's an update on the flatulence problems in Malawi, an Art Rock related April Fools gag, the pitfalls of record vouchers, plus all the very latest from Piley's Newsround desk....

You can listen to it here:

download it here: Podrophenia 14

or pick it up at iTunes here (along with all previous shows): Podrophenia on iTunes

Made me chuckle out loud on the train, couple of very suspect tunes in there to say the least!

We uploaded a newie podcast today too: http://polyvinylcraftsmen.blogspot.com/2011/04/transmission-5.html

No ex Boon stars on ours I'm afraid!

Ta PVC, only 2 suspect tunes? either your standards are climbing or ours are! Marvelous! Hope you find some more Elphick gold soon!

I was being polite, they were all a little suspect in one way or another, a couple were just plain wrong! Entertaining though.

Really enjoyed this podcast, Piley! Of course, I may be slightly biased because of your inclusion of the wonderfully wrong Elphick track.

The real eye-opener was that Tori Amos cover of the Chas & Dave tune. What a great track! Really surprised me, and I now keep wondering what her covers of 'Gertcha!' or 'Rabbit' would sound like!

Another great show. Cheers fella.

Just what the world needs. We finally get a bit of sunshine and then as an added bonus there's a bit of a giggle with the latest Podrophenia. Looking forward to Podrophenia - The Intros. They just seem to keep getting better. Don't think I'll be checking for Michael Elphick tour dates though.

Sorry for the delay but finally managed to hear this un-interrupted. Best tracks were Holiday in Cambodia, Common People and oh oh - Oh know you dont!!! What on earth was Elphick thinking...should have put the handbrake on!!! I remember Tomfoolery too. Really enjoyed this one too - but still the persistence to include flatulence related humour!!

PVC - thought you were being kind!

Dan - Bless you Sir, delighted to hear it took your fancy, and thanks (is that the right word?) for the Elphick tip-off. Do let me know if you come across any other sex pest records by former celebs.

Martin - Thanks. Have seen the Elphick single kicking around on ebay if you are keen? Picture cover too!

phsend - yes, a mixed bag I think you'll agree! Elphick seemed to steel the show some how! Must put the handbrake on the flatulence news, but it's all that's hitting the Podrophenia newsdesk of late...

Loving the show chaps!! That Trainspotters track is great, I used to love the Mike Read jingle but have never heard the original before. But I can't get my head around Judge Dredd!! What the f*@k is that all about?! Mad stuff, dread (pardon the pun) who bought this stuff at the time. Still at least he never took his helmet off.

Sorry...

Thanks John... There's a.brand new show later this week if you can still take more!!

Never really got JD either, even at school. Think I pretended to like it, but nevet really did. Ivor Bigun was better, maybe as it was less subtle!

Never understood how the singer & the comic character had the same name, & who came first?

Just giving this podcast a second listen and was intrigued enough about Alternative 3 to google it.

Astonishingly, it's available on DVD from Amazon for only three quid!

I'm thinking of having a punt for that price.

I haven't managed to track down any more sex pest records by former celebs, but I'll keep you informed.
